The Father of CMC
One man with a big vision. In many ways, that’s how Colorado Mountain College began. David Delaplane was the recently appointed manager of the Glenwood Springs Chamber of Commerce in 1962 when he discovered a folder labeled “Education Committee” in his new filing cabinet. Inside was a slip of paper with a handful of scribbled names. Pondering the list, the thought that there really ought to be a college in the central mountain region of Colorado flashed through is mind. He started calling the names on the list.
