Jenell Hilderbrand: Career Evolution

photo - Janell HilderbrandIn 2001 I graduated from CMC with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. I had always worked in the medical profession and after moving to Glenwood Springs in 1994 as a single mother I started taking classes at the college.

I worked three jobs and worked my way through the nursing program. Right in the middle of the program I suffered a tragic horseback riding accident. I had emergency surgery and was hospitalized for a week. My teachers and classmates continued to support me and help me through this difficult time. I successfully completed the program even with the life-changing event.

I am proud to say after working in our valley, filled with amazing people, that I will never forget the root of my nursing career. My root is the nursing program at CMC.

I recently completed the RN-BSN program at another school and find out that CMC has started that same program. I will be pursuing my MSN in nursing education so I can give back and one day work for CMC in the nursing program.

I would like to inspire others to be part of such a wonderful and growing culture with nursing. I am so thankful for such a wonderful college that is filled with such diverse, supportive, and professional staff that is the foundation of our valley and our community!
